We regularly work with landlords, agents and leaseholders in Oxford Street properties who want works completed discreetly and efficiently. From repairing high-traffic hallway areas to updating commercial interiors, our team works quietly and with clear communication throughout. Each job is carefully planned and we use coatings that are long-lasting and appropriate to the use of the space.
Since 1999, we have completed projects throughout London’s West End, including Fitzrovia, Soho and Oxford Street. Our understanding of restricted access, listed building rules and shared ownership responsibilities help clients stay compliant while still getting the results they desire. We offer our clients an after care service and help to provide them with the full general maintenance of their local buildings in the area.

Beyond the retail signage of Oxford Street lies a rich mix of late Victorian, Edwardian and post-war buildings. Many upper floors house offices or apartments with striking period details — sash windows, ornate staircases and plaster cornices — often hidden from public view. The expectations of craftsmanship here are twofold: decorative work must stand up to footfall and scrutiny, yet still honour the historical bones of the structure.
Above Oxford Street’s busy storefronts lies a quieter layer of history, Edwardian façades, high ceilings and ornate plasterwork in old commercial spaces now converted into homes and offices. Traditional decorative techniques are applied in their interiors, such as lime-based finishes and hand-applied glazes. Property owners and designers here often seek skilled decorators who balance historical detailing with modern living, showing an evident respect for craftsmanship and architectural continuity.

Consultation

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout.

Client: Mr Arjun Kapoor (Property Consultant acting on behalf of a private overseas investor)
Property Type: Luxury penthouse apartment atop a converted Edwardian department store
Location: Oxford Street, London W1
Instruction: Complete decorative works to a showroom-ready standard for client inspection, with remote sign-offs and tight quality control.
This unique project involved converting the top floor of a former commercial building into a high-spec residential penthouse. Mr Kapoor needed every finish to reflect a premium standard suitable for an international client with exacting taste. The challenges included irregular ceiling heights, poor original acoustics and adapting a rigid concrete shell to feel like a warm, high-end home. Remote approvals from an overseas design team required ongoing visual reporting. Additionally, polished timber panels for built-in wardrobes arrived scratched and had to be re-finished onsite under tight deadlines.
Step 1: Acoustic Planning and Ceiling Adjustments
Our decorators worked alongside joiners to prepare surfaces in staggered zones. Acoustic backing and false ceiling channels were fitted and filled ahead of finishing.
Step 2: Panel Refinishing and Furniture Repairs
The damaged polished panels were carefully stripped and re-polished by hand using French polishing techniques to bring them back to showroom condition.
Step 3: Spray Paint and Specialist Finishes
Smooth, low-reflective finishes were spray-applied to walls and ceilings, maintaining consistent tone across varied surface levels.
Step 4: Wallpaper and Textural Contrast
High-end wall coverings were applied in bedrooms and lounge zones to introduce warmth and texture. Remote design approvals were managed via live update calls.
Step 5: Final Detailing and Handovers
Decorative trims, door sets and built-ins were inspected with the design team via video call. Areas were then retouched and cleaned in time for a remote client walkthrough.
The apartment was delivered on time, achieving the high-end look expected for luxury investment property in Central London. The finishes now balance the bold scale of the former department store with a soft, residential feel. Every surface, from wardrobe doors to ceiling recesses, reflects coordinated planning and expert execution. The property passed its remote inspection and was approved for market readiness without changes requested.
“I’ve worked with many decorators but JRSL Interiors stood out from the rest with their reliability and ability to work under pressure. Refinishing the damaged panels was handled swiftly and professionally, with no complaints, just solutions. Their ability to communicate with an overseas team was key to our success. The finishes were spot on and the apartment feels like a truly high quality home now. My client was impressed and that’s what matters.”
