Fitzrovia, located between Bloomsbury and Marylebone in Central London, has a rich and varied history. Developed mainly in the 18th century on land owned by the Duke of Grafton, the area took its name from the Fitzroy family, whose estate once dominated the district. Its Georgian terraces and later Victorian mansion blocks gave Fitzrovia a distinctive character that remains today.
By the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Fitzrovia became known as a hub for artists, writers and intellectuals, with figures such as George Bernard Shaw, Virginia Woolf and Augustus John associated with the neighbourhood. The area also became home to London’s advertising industry, earning it the nickname “Adland”. Today, Fitzrovia is celebrated for its mix of old and new — historic townhouses, creative studios, medical practices and modern developments sit side by side, creating one of London’s most vibrant and desirable districts.

Consultation

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout.

Mr Alex Darlington, Private Client, Rathbone Street, Fitzrovia W1
Mr Darlington’s duplex penthouse featured double-height living spaces, minimalist finishes and panoramic city views at the top of a modernist block in Fitzrovia. The client wanted the entire interior redecorated, including ceilings, walls and a large bespoke staircase, but access was strictly limited to overnight hours due to building regulations and neighbour privacy. Spray application was preferred for its high-quality results, but this demanded silent operations, impeccable masking and dustless efficiency. The staircase’s central glass structure added complexity, requiring surface-specific protective coatings and seamless blending with adjacent materials.
JRSL Interiors implemented a five-step programme:
The duplex was transformed without a single complaint from neighbours. The staircase’s matte lacquer finish was indistinguishable from a factory-spray, while the walls reflected light subtly without visible seams or patchiness. Every night’s progress was photographed and logged for the client, who travelled during most of the work. The results met the client’s request for gallery-grade precision while maintaining the penthouse’s architectural clarity.
"I wasn’t sure how they'd pull it off — spray-painting a penthouse quietly, overnight, without disturbing anyone or creating dust and disruption. But JRSL Interiors delivered. The finish is truly superb, the stairs are a work of art and not a single smudge on the glass or concrete. They sent me daily updates with images and a brief summary while I was abroad and when I finally walked into the property, it really was like entering a brand-new flat. IMPECCABLE! - Their attention to detail and care for my home honestly exceeded expectations."
