Developed in the 1820s by the Grosvenor family and architect Thomas Cubitt, Eaton Square is a crown jewel of Regency London. Grand stuccoed terraces frame expansive private gardens, offering serenity in the city's centre. Behind the façades lie intricate cornices, original panelling and classical proportions that demand skilled and respectful restoration. Today, Eaton Square is home to global dignitaries, financiers and collectors, all seeking discretion, prestige and artistry.
Eaton Square’s grand stucco façades and Regency proportions exemplify London’s finest neoclassical architecture. Traditional painting and decoration here are more than aesthetic; they’re acts of preservation. From hand-mixed limewash to delicately restored cornices, every detail demands authentic craftsmanship. Residents and property managers alike value artisanship that honours history. The expectation is excellence, where heritage techniques meet modern precision to protect the legacy.

Consultation

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout.

Mrs Remington approached JRSL Interiors during the early planning phase of a complete refurbishment. The property had not been redecorated for over a decade and many of its original plaster details had dulled or suffered minor damage from historic water ingress. She requested a refined, gallery-style interior to complement her extensive collection of 20th-century European art, with a soft neutral base, maximum light reflectivity and no visible brush strokes or roller texture. Time was also critical, as the property needed to be ready for occupancy within twelve weeks.
To deliver this high-spec finish while preserving architectural integrity, we followed a methodical process:
Survey and Surface Diagnostics: Conducted moisture and substrate testing to identify latent issues in cornicing, lintels and walls, enabling targeted plaster repairs.
Design Mockups and Colour Sampling: Collaborated with the client’s art advisor to produce on-site sample boards featuring subtle whites and greyed neutrals from Paint & Paper Library and Edward Bulmer ranges.
Delicate Restoration: Used conservation-grade materials to patch and re-cast segments of decorative plasterwork, avoiding modern fillers which risk incompatibility with lime-based surfaces.
Cabinetry and Joinery Refinishing: All built-in joinery—including wardrobes, internal doors and window shutters—was sanded, primed and sprayed in a controlled, dust-free zone using low-sheen, water-based enamel for durability and elegance.
Final Touches: Polished plaster was applied to accent walls in the drawing room, while Farrow & Ball Estate Emulsion was rolled using a two-person technique to ensure a seamless finish across large walls.
The apartment was transformed into a luminous, art-ready space that respected its historic shell while feeling undeniably modern and luxurious. Original cornices and ceiling details appeared newly sculpted, walls gleamed softly without reflection hotspots and all joinery read as a cohesive suite. We completed the project on time, with zero snagging, allowing Mrs. Remington to move in just days after handover.
“JRSL Interiors understood the balance I wanted—clean and modern, but sympathetic to the bones of the building. Their team was extremely professional and genuinely pleasant to have around. I never had to chase anything. The finishes are absolutely outstanding and I couldn’t be happier with the results.”
