Case Study: High-End Redecoration of a Townhouse in Eaton Square, London SW1

Project Overview

Located in the prestigious Eaton Square, this Grade II listed townhouse required an expert-led redecoration of its internal entrance, hallway, stairs and landing, over four floors, to restore its prominent beauty. The project was carried out with the utmost care to protect the furnishings and preserve the building’s heritage features achieving a high-spec finish. Every aspect of the restoration was meticulously planned to ensure both aesthetic refinement and long-term durability.

Scope of Works

Site Preparation & Protection

Prior to commencement, the client was advised to have their staff clear personal effects from drawers, cloak cupboards and remaining freestanding furniture.
Our team carefully removed and stored valuable artwork, mirrors and a historic clock in a designated safe area.
A multi-layered floor protection system was installed, consisting of lining paper, cordec corrugated plastic sheeting and additional hardboard panels in key areas.
A specialist access tower was positioned to safely reach high ceilings without compromising the flooring, particularly in the pianoarea.

Electrical & Hardware Removal

All down lights, electrical sockets and switches were carefully lowered, bagged and kept connected to power to prevent damage.
Door handles and architectural ironmongery were removed to allow for unobstructed decoration.

Surface Restoration & Decoration

Areas of blown timber skirting were expertly cut away and repaired using a timber splice and two-part compound filler for a seamless repair.
The hallway’s cloak doors were meticulously painted on both internal and external faces, providing a continuous aesthetic.
Exposed sections of the cloak cupboard carcasses were painted to blend seamlessly with the overall scheme, while internal surfaces were left unpainted in accordance with the client’s request.
The entire hallway—including joinery, skirting boards, ceilings, walls and the grand double doors leading to the stair landing—was meticulously prepared and redecorated.
The internal face of the front door was redecorated, enhancing the entrance with a renewed sense of grandeur.
A premium Benjamin Moore White emulsion and eggshell finish were used to replicate the original colour scheme, to a bright and sophisticated result.

Final Finishing & Reinstatement

Upon completion, all electrical fittings, ironmongery, artwork and furnishings were carefully reinstated to their original positions.
Protective coverings were removed and the entire working area underwent a thorough professional clean to restore it to pristine condition.
All waste materials were responsibly disposed of, leaving the space immaculate and ready for the client.

This high-end redecoration project successfully revived the hallway’s classical elegance while maintaining a respectful approach to the property’s architectural heritage.
